The Mad Men were doing a deal, and from what Blackheart’s sources told him, it was a big one. All the Jokers knew was a time and a location. It wasn’t clear whether it was drugs or guns or what, but disrupting the transaction would be bad for the Mad Men, and that’s all the Jokers needed to know.

Aric rode toward the front of the pack. Sasha was still in the shop, and probably would be for another week. The used bike he picked up to get him through was probably still sitting at the top of the parking structure full of bullet holes. That was the first place they were going, and Aric was riding Chance’s chopper, though the latter was very clear that if anything happened to the bike, Aric was going to be wearing his ass as a hat. Even from his bed where he was still recuperating, he’d said the words like he meant them.

The Jokers were half an hour early, which gave them plenty of time to hide their bikes and set up around the entrance. After that it was just a matter of checking the structure.

The lot was dark and the Jokers didn’t want to give themselves away, so they made their way through the lower levels without flashlights. There was plenty of cover, but nowhere to hide. If there were any Mad Men in the structure, the Jokers would find them before too long.

Aric walked, gun drawn, squinting in the darkness as he searched for anyone or anything out of place. Nineteen of his brothers walked their own paths over the asphalt, clearing the first and second levels. A few of them stayed on the ground, a few more on the second level. When the Mad Men arrived, they wouldn’t know what hit them until it was already too late. At least that was the plan.

Aric was walking toward the ramp leading up to the third level when he spotted a man rise from cover and sprint up the spiral to the next level. “Hey!” he shouted, but of course the man just kept running. It was too dark to tell whether it was a Mad Man or just some kid or junkie who didn’t think anyone would show up there at two o’clock in the morning.

A few men joined Aric in his pursuit, but they all stopped when they heard the bikes approaching in the distance. Aric leaned over the concrete barrier to get a better look and saw what he already knew—it was the Mad Men. But it wasn’t just the two or three guys that the Jokers were counting on. From the look of it, the whole club was rolling up, and the Jokers were woefully outnumbered.

Aric motioned for the others to come take a look, and a minute later, they were all racing back down to the ground level as the first motorcycles turned off the road. The Jokers got into place. They were outnumbered, but they at least had the element of surprise.
